Flourishing in Community
ConPRmetidos is working in partnership with Fordham University to support and promote the Flourishing in Community Grant Program, which will award $40 million in federal funding for environmental justice projects in EPA Region 2, which includes Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, New York, New Jersey, and eight federally-recognized Indian Nations.
This program seeks to provide funding for environmental justice projects, prioritizing underrepresented groups and those disproportionately affected by environmental injustice in Region 2.
Some examples of topics for environmental justice projects are:
Public and environmental health
Affordable and sustainable housing
Revitalization of underutilized spaces and areas
Educational programs
Clean and renewable energy
Biodiversity and conservation
Agriculture and food sovereignty
Among the grants available is a $75,000 non-competitive grant targeted to entities with limited capacity so that they can access funds without entering the competitive evaluation process. There are also competitive grants for assessment, planning, or implementation projects. These range from $150,000 to $350,000 for 1-2 year projects.
Flourishing in Community will be accepting applications on a rolling basis (while funds last), with quarterly evaluation cycles.
ConPRmetidos recognizes the importance and potential impact of this grant to promote environmental justice and address the needs of the organizations that do the work every day. We are honored to be able to put our experience managing grants to work and act as a local partner of Fordham in Puerto Rico, providing support in the form of community outreach, information sessions, application workshops, and project management.
